About Me

Known to Internet types as Red Monster or simply Red and to the Real-Life set as Alyson, I'm a 29-year-old American single woman who completed a Peace Corps assignment teaching English in Albania in June 2008 and still hasn't recovered. I spend my days searching for a new day job, working on my third novel, and trolling the Internet for blogging material. I spend my evenings behind a spinning wheel and watching TV with my mom.

My hobbies, if the main page is any indication, include my obsession with the Marvel Comics character Siryn of X-Factor Investigations and a little bit of graphics design. If you're wondering what happened to the other links from the main page, the fact of the matter is that I killed off the Prosh Awards and gave up the X-Force Ring years ago, and I am keeping the Monster's Kaleidoscope up for those who might enjoy it because I actually did put some work into those graphics and I think there might be some uses for them out there, but I don't expect to create any more graphics for the foreseeable future.

I'm also a tremendous Harry Potter enthusiast, and I have a motley collection of creative offerings in that fandom including fan fiction, shipping essays and many, many icons. Other crafty stuff I like to do with my hands includes knitting, crochet, spinning and making soap, lip balm, lotion and other toiletries. The fiber arts have helped keep me sane for...the last several years, actually, but the toiletries have been put on hiatus until my employment situation stabilizes and I can get another apartment and take all my cool stuff out of storage.

The site looks a little spare right now, but that is because the real action can now be found on my blog, The Monster's Ink. Yes, the pun on the movie title "Monsters, Inc." is deliberate. There you will find me shooting my mouth off on topics including but not limited to: gender issues, LGBT rights and sexuality (Bi-Yotch), politics and international issues (Citizen Red), religion and atheism (Monstrous Little Heathen), my writing endeavors (Little Red Writing Hood) and my hobbies.

I'm not at liberty right now to display my email address, but I can be found on Live Journal and Dreamwidth and Facebook.
